An Anthropic API key lets SCM write articles with Claude for about 4 cents each. Pay as you go with no monthly plan, and the model list refreshes straight from your account.
Why use this?
- Pay as you go. A 1,500 word article costs roughly 4 cents on Sonnet, closer to 1 cent on Haiku
- No subscription, however you need to buy and top up before API key is given,
- You can run requests in parallel. API keys have generous rate limits.
- Model list can be retrieved manually, it means the list stays fresh even if you don’t update SCM.
Requires a paid Anthropic account, which is not the same as a Claude Code account.
There is no free tier, you need to enter billing details before a key is issued.

SCM asks Claude for up to 16,000 output tokens per call, roughly 12,000 words. Long form articles will not truncate mid sentence.

- Add credit under Billing. Minimum top up is 5 dollars
